Free printable coloring pages for kids

287 sheets across 75 subjects, graded by age, as vector PDFs sized for A4 and US Letter. No signup, no watermark, no email address.

Pick by age

The grade is measured, not guessed. Every enclosed area on the page is sized, and a sheet only reaches the toddler shelf if nine tenths of the space to color is in areas wider than a crayon tip.

Animals

Animals are where most kids start, and they're the easiest subject to get wrong. A drawing that looks charming on screen turns into a mess of thin whiskers and tiny eyes once it's on paper. Every sheet here has been checked at print size, so the smallest enclosed area is still big enough for a crayon.

Dinosaurs

Dinosaurs give you big flat bodies to fill in and a few fiddly bits like plates and claws. That combination works well across ages: a three-year-old can scribble the body while an older sibling does the spikes properly. The sheets below are graded so you can pick the right one rather than printing all of them and hoping.

Vehicles

Trucks and diggers are mostly straight lines and circles, which makes them forgiving to color and popular with the age group least able to stay inside a line. Wheels are the thing worth getting right: hubs drawn too small are impossible to fill in, so they're drawn large here even where that costs a little realism.

Space

Space sheets have an advantage nothing else here does: the background is meant to be dark. That gives a child permission to cover most of the page in one colour, which is enormously satisfying at four and almost impossible on a drawing of a cat. Stars and planets fill the corners so nothing is left stranded in the middle of a white page.

Under the Sea

Sea creatures are the best subject in this whole library for pattern work. Scales, tentacles and shells all repeat, so a child who has got bored of filling in large shapes has somewhere to go. The trade is that repeating detail is small detail, which is why more of these grade medium than anything else.

Fantasy

Princesses, unicorns, fairies and mermaids are what children ask for by name, and this is also where a free site has to be most careful. Everything here is drawn from scratch, so none of it resembles a character from a film — which is exactly what lets a nursery photocopy a class set without anyone having to check first. Dragons and knights sit in the same category rather than a separate one, because plenty of children want both on the same afternoon.

Nature

Flowers are the quiet workhorse of coloring books. A single bloom is a handful of big petals, which suits a toddler, and a whole meadow is dozens of small ones, which suits somebody who wants an hour to themselves. Both are here, and the grade on each sheet tells you which you're printing.

Farm

Farm animals are the first animals most children can name, which makes these useful for more than coloring — a two-year-old filling in a cow will usually tell you what it says. The sheets keep to one animal per page for that reason, rather than crowding a whole farmyard into one drawing.

What this site doesn't do

The range is narrow. 75 subjects covers the usual requests and not much else, so if you came looking for a particular animal there is a fair chance it is not here yet.

There are no licensed characters and there never will be. That rules out most of what people search for, and it's the trade for being able to say a nursery can photocopy a class set without asking anyone's permission.

The artwork is generated on our own machines rather than drawn by hand. A person checks every sheet before it goes up, but the style is what a model produces, not what an illustrator would.

Common questions

Do I have to sign up or give an email address?

No. The download links are ordinary links to PDF files. There is no account, no email gate and no newsletter. Open your browser devtools and watch the Network tab if you want to check.

Can I use these at a school, nursery or playgroup?

Yes, including printing and photocopying as many as you need. You cannot resell the sheets or bundle them into a paid product. The Terms page says this in full.

Will the lines print sharp?

Every sheet is vector artwork, so the PDF has no fixed resolution. It prints the same on a home inkjet at A4 as it does blown up to A3 at a copy shop.

Why are there no cartoon characters?

They belong to somebody else. Every sheet here is original artwork, which is what makes it safe for a nursery to photocopy a class set without asking anyone.

How are the sheets made?

They are generated on our own hardware, converted to vector line art, then checked by a person before they go on the site. Nothing gets published without someone looking at it first.
